Poor Juniper, sweetest cat ever, blew her knee and just had her leg amputated. Even in her post-surgery grogginess, she asked for a pen, a card, and a stamp. What a cat.

Oh, no! Dear Juniper, so much has changed in your house in recent years. Your old pal, Bear, moved on into the heavens. Laura isn't home all the time anymore.Your house mate, p, knows a lot about loss of important body parts. She will be a good listening ear when needed and can guide you to some helpful ways to negotiate the challenges inherent in such a big change. Feel better soon. Your friend, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteOooo, poor kitty :-(. Nice manners though! Hope Juni's doing better now.
ReplyDeleteMy cat is a big boy who came to me 2.5 years ago when his owner, my aunt, couldn't take care of him any longer due to Alzheimer's and a fall down a flight of stairs leading to a sudden hospitalization. When I somewhat reluctantly drove "Whiskers" back to Boston from Cape Cod with me, I kinda knew it was going to be a one-way ticket. He seemed to,too, and meowed and cried the whole way!
I've only taken him to the vet once (when he was throwing up daily) and the whole experience was traumatic for all involved. He became a tiger at the Angell Memorial ER and 2 big guys were summoned to restrain and papoose him.
I knew I had bonded with him when the vet, who clearly disapproved of him, stated, "He's grossly overweight" and I mentally responded, "So are you, Lady!" But, I took her advice and cut back on his feedings and his vomiting episodes have now become more cat-normalized.
Funny how you get attached even when you don't intend to.
